SNAMS 2018

Social network analysis is concerned with the study of relationships between social entities. The recent advances in internet technologies and social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, have created outstanding opportunities for individuals to connect, communicate or comment on issues or events of their interests. Social networks are dynamic and evolving in nature; they also involve a huge number of users. Frequently, the information related to a certain concept is distributed among several servers. This brings numerous challenges to researchers, particularity in the data mining and machine learning fields. The purpose of this SNAMS Symposium is to provide a forum for researchers to present and discuss their work which is related to social network analysis. This SNAMS 2018 is col-located with the The 5th IEEE International Symposium on Internet of Things: Systems, Management and Security (IoTSMS).

To be held at the 15th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence (DCAI).

20th-22nd June 2018, Toledo (Spain).

DEADLINE:
5th February, 2018

=====================================================================

SCOPE
=====================================================================
Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is intended to provide users with systems tightly integrated with their everyday environment and activities. The goal is minimizing the need of explicit actions by users, through the continuous and distributed orchestration of information and actuation devices. With the advances in the field, AmI is pursuing growingly ambitious goals in terms of the size and integration of its smart spaces, the number of served users, and the level of adaptation to them.

Special Issue "Love & Hate in the Time of Social Media and Social Networks"

Social networks are becoming more and more present in our daily life. According to the Global Web Index, digital consumers spend an average of 2 hours a day on social media and messaging. Thus, a large body of research has been developed in the last years to process automatically social media and social networks, with the aim of understanding, discovering insights and exploiting this information. All this has contributed to the development of research areas such as sentiment analysis and social network analysis. The new communication media offer a unique opportunity to observe "in the wild" feelings and reactions spontaneously expressed on different topics, often using figurative language: sarcastic messages can be the ones that spread more virulently.
