What is Android?

Android is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets. The Android operating system structure consists of applications running in a Java framework for object-oriented applications on the core Java libraries in a virtual machine to compile Dalvik runtime. Libraries written in C language include a GUI manager (surface manager), a framework OpenCores a SQLite relational database, an API OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics, a rendering engine WebKit, SGL graphics engine, SSL and Standard C library Glibc.
